The Fanscotian is an award winning publication of the Journalism II class at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and the official student newspaper of the institution. Its goal, since its establishment in 1936, has been to educate and inform students and staff of the school and residents of the community about relevant issues and events.

The Fanscotian's staff of 30 editors, writers, artists and photographers and two faculty advisers work inside and outside of class to produce the print edition of the newspaper once every four weeks as well as to provide a dynamic stream of stories exclusive to the online edition.
